The voluntary ecological year (FÖJ) is an educational and orientation year for young people. It offers the opportunity to gain exciting insights into nature and the environment and to get actively involved. More than 300 young people complete a FÖJ in Saxony every year. Be one of them!

The FÖJ is aimed at people between 15 and 26 years of age, it starts at the beginning of September and lasts about 12 months.

The FÖJ always begins at the beginning of September.

How long does the volunteer service last?

The FÖJ lasts 12 months.

How many hours will I work?

You will work 40 hours a week on our farm.

What benefits do I get from volunteering?

  • Knowledge about the topics of environment and nature, as well as people and animals.
  • You can try out a career in a different field.
  • The FÖJ is recognized as a waiting period for university places or serves as a bridging period.

  • 342 € pocket money per month

  • Educational seminars and educational days (at least 25 days)
  • a certificate and, if requested, a final assessment with professional qualifications
  • Accompaniment by a mentor at the placement site and a speaker from the Paritätische Freiwilligendienste Sachsen GmbH team

What work is expected of me?

  • Care for alpacas, llamas, chickens and goats
  • Halter training with the young animals
  • Accompaniment during alpaca hikes and farm tours
  • Help with organizing group events for kindergartens, school classes and retirement homes
  • Support with organization and sales in the farm shop
  • Help with shearing
  • Support during births and foal rearing
  • Support with gardening, planting and green space maintenance
  • Planning, organizing and assisting with events
  • Restoration of old furniture for farm shop and farm decoration

You are welcome to let your creativity run wild on the farm and start your own projects with which you can immortalize yourself in Alpakaland.

Can I live on the farm?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide accommodation at the moment. You would have to rent other accommodation nearby for the duration of your volunteer service, move in with relatives in the area, or be from the area anyway and have a reasonable journey.
